Senior Portraits in Portland, Oregon

Senior portraits in Portland, Oregon by Chris Korsak Photography

Senior portraits are a really big moment in your life. They capture a time which marks the rite of passage into adulthood. You deserve portraits that will make you look amazing and showcase your individuality. You deserve portraits you can be proud of for years to come.

The Elements of great Senior Pictures

It all starts with planning. Let's make sure you not only have a great time during the photo shoot, but you also receive pictures that blow you away.

Clothing really drives the "look" of the photo. Formal or casual? Edgy? Playful? It really doesn't matter, as long as it's you! We can get into more detail about clothing during our in-person consultation to make sure we coordinate the look and the location. Speaking of which...

Choosing the right location is key to getting the pictures you want. That's why the portrait session will take place at the location of your choice in Portland! It can be indoors or outdoors. Parks and other outdoor locations are great, although not every park in town is equally photogenic. Some of my favorites include Mt. Tabor and Peninsula Park. We can also do something less traditional like an urban or industrial aesthetic. I have a bunch of found spots which make for really cool backdrops. Finally, indoor locations work great as well.

If you decide to go with an outdoor location, it's a good idea to avoid booking your time slot in the middle of the day. Having the photo shoot in the late afternoon or early evening will typically provide the best lighting. Indoor photo shoots can be scheduled for anytime of day.

The Photo Session

All the planning leads up to this moment. You've got your looks ready. You got your hair done, and nails did. You're standing there at your chosen location. It's time. Take a deep breath and know it's gonna be great! I promise to work with you to help you relax, have fun, and create images you will love.

How do prints work?

I don't require you buy prints through me, but you have the option to purchase prints through your personal online gallery if you desire. I recommend Bay Photo for all your printing. They do a great job, and I’ve trusted them for years.

Can I bring a friend?

I recommend it! I want you to feel comfortable, and surrounding yourself with people who care about you is a great way to do just that. Definitely feel free to bring a friend or a family member (or both!) along for the ride.

Do you provide hair styling and make-up?

My expertise is photos - trust me, you don't want me to do your hair. It's your responsibility to arrive hair and make-up ready. I recommend bringing a couple supplies with you to the shoot for touch-ups and adjustments. One word of advice: no haircuts or anything drastic within a week of the session!

What do I wear?

First things first, consult your yearbook photo submission dress-code standards. Please make sure you aren't wearing anything that will get rejected. After that, you should wear something that feels like you. To borrow a phrase from Madonna- Express yourself! You can bring plenty of options, but generally 3 looks is a great number to strive for.

How do I pose?

It's definitely my job to worry about this, not you! I will guide you every step of the way to make you look your absolute best. I will provide clear direction during the entire process. All you have to do is follow my lead. Have your own idea for a great photo? That's cool; we'll try that too.

When is payment due?

A signed contract (by a legal guardian if under 18), and a 50% initial payment is due when you book a session. This initial payment reserves your time. I agree not to advertise this time slot to any other client. The remaining 50% of the bill will be due the day of the session. I accept credit and debit cards online and at the session. I also accept cash.
